Relaxed Hair

I have decided to finally go natural and sport the sisterlock style. I'm really afraid of my natural hair as I've never cared for it. My mom did up to about age 11 and then it was relaxed from that point until now.

I'm not like others who tried variou types of hairstyles. I only wore braids three times and I've never worn extensions. I pretty much relaxed and did an occasional cut. However, I've always had a problem with burns and in the past, "hard to process" hair. It got better with time but not the burning.

I recently had a baby and now my hair is falling out.

I was planning to go bald but in fear I opted for a bob and I've been wearing that for the last two relaxers. I'm due to be relaxed soon but I've decided not to.

I'm now in transition.... waiting for enough growth to start yet wondering what I'll do with my hair in the mean time. Because I was loosing hair so rapidly over the past few months, I am afraid to go braiding. However, leaving it as is will soon prove extremely hard to manage. I'm thinking I may use the big plaits instead of small braids. But still worried about my hairline. That's where I felt the most of the brunt in my recent fall out.

I'm a christian and am sure a lot of my church folks won't feel to great about my new hairstyle. My parents are already not up for it nor is my sister. My husband is the only supporter and he is the most important of them all anyway. I'm not gonna tell anyone when I'll be getting "locked up". I'll just do it. I'm simply tired of processing my hair.

I believe I have thick and nice hair and I need to finally know what it looks like and how it can grow. I've always sported long hair but because of the relaxing there are times I have to trim or cut so I don't normally have it long all the time. With Sisterlocks, I believe I can achieve that.

My biggest concern is if in a few years I want to change my hairstyle I'll have to cut it all off and start again. But I hope I won't have to cut at all.

Well, I'm going to be seeing a loctician closer up to the time when I have enough new growth and then I'll tell u all about it and what I decide.
